Oleg Prokofiev (1928–1998) was an artist, sculptor and poet associated with Moscow’s unofficial artistic circles, including the Slepian Group. Working outside the constraints of Socialist Realism, he developed an individual language of geometric and lyrical abstraction.
His practice evolved continuously over five decades across the Soviet Union and the United Kingdom. Paintings, sculptures, drawings, sketchbooks, correspondence, photographs and manuscripts preserved by Prokofiev Studio reveal both his artistic process and the cultural networks that informed his work.
